Mary Todd Elementary

Open House

Thursday, August 26th is our Open House! We will begin at 6:00 in the gym to introduce teachers and give parents some more information about our Title 1 program. Then we will dismiss to the classrooms so you can meet teachers, see the rooms, and learn more about the academic expectations at your child's new grade level. Refreshments will be available in the lobby. We will finish up at 8:00.

Author Visit

Author Tommy Greenwald will be visiting Mary Todd next Wednesday, August 31st to speak to our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students! Tommy is the author of the popular Crimebiters series, the Charlie Joe Jackson series, and his newest book, Jack Strong Takes a Stand, a spinoff of the Charlie Joe Jackson series. His books will be available for purchase next week and Tommy will sign any purchases! The proceeds from this sale will count toward our Book Fair totals!

No School August 19

Reminder that there is no school for students tomorrow, Friday, August 29th.

Dismissal

To help with a smooth and safe dismissal, please submit transportation changes to the front office no later than 2 p.m. each day. Changes can be submitted via written note, email (laurajo.baker@fayette.kyschools.us), or fax (859-381-3720). If your child is a walker or rides a bus and you would like to pick them up in the event of rain or snow, please do so at their bus stop or at their walker door, not in the front office. Last minute dismissal changes hold up the dismissal process, slow down buses, and delay students getting home on time. Thank you for your help in this matter!

Welcome Back

Sumdog Math Contest Winners

Sum Dog

Congratulations to Mrs. Townsend’s 2nd graders. They earned 1st place in the most recent Fayette County Sumdog math contest. Students had one week to answer as many math questions as possible. Mrs. Townsend’s class score, 605, was the average number of correct answers from all the students. There's a maximum of 1000 questions for each student - so accuracy was more important than effort. A special shout out to Titaria Williams who placed 3rd overall for the most correct answers!
